Year in review 2015

December 31, 2015 -- End of year package. Graphic shows a selection of key events that took place during 2015. Events and people in the public eye included the ongoing war in Syria, which in turn contributed to Europe's worsening migrant crisis and terror attacks committed in support of the so-called Islamic State, or Daesh. The U.S., France, Britain, and Jordan carried out airstrikes on Daesh targets, while Russia also launched airstrikes in Syria, but in support of the Assad regime. Elsewhere Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes in Yemen against Iranian-backed Houthi militants.
